The Pros and Cons of Shell Scheme

Shell scheme as a display system has many excellent qualities. These include; 

• It's a relatively low-cost display system
• Shell stands incur no fees for design
• Being quick and easy to assemble; large blocks of stands can be built very quickly

A giant construction set

Shell scheme is delivered to exhibition venues in very large boxes full of components.

It’s a bit like seeing a giant Meccano set arrive in the show halls.

All the bits get laid out on the floor in areas where shell stands are going to be erected.

Using specialist tools, the install team assemble the pieces and voila!

Suddenly, you have whole blocks of shell stands built and ready for their exhibitors to move into.

It’s a simple and very time-effective display system.

Large numbers of individual stands can be built quickly and relatively cheaply and that’s why shell has become widely adopted by show organisers the world over.

So, with all of those qualities in its favour, what are the downsides of using shell as a display system?

It boils down to one very important thing.

It’s very hard to stand out to visitors when you are inside a shell

When you exhibit at a busy exhibition there are lots of people walking the show floor.

As an exhibitor, you only have a few vital seconds to communicate what it is that you do.

Fascia panels which are part of a shell scheme construction often obscure the view for visitors.

They can't see what's on a stand clearly unless they are close-up to it.

As mentioned already, shell scheme stands are usually built in blocks.

Essentially, one long wall is erected.

Fascia panels are used to provide rigidity to the block and to display exhibitor names.

Partition walls are inserted to accommodate the various stand sizes booked by exhibitors.

The problem with this display method is that all stands can blend into one.

Although it's not impossible to stand out from your neighbours, you do need work on it.

Strong graphics, lighting and well-placed exhibits can help you to be more visible.

Having said all of the above, if you are a first-time exhibitor, shell scheme is the way to go.

It provides a very straightforward way to make a start into the world of exhibiting.
